Suborbital Hotel Space Available: by Maryanne Kane of https://innovation-gamechangers.com
Space Hotels – Space Innovation Orbits. Suborbital space luxury hotel rooms are available. We spotlight startup company Orion Span’s space luxury hotel “Aurora Station”. Orion plans to launch the space module in 2021 and greet guests in 2022.
Up, Up and Away in the Luxury Space Hotel
Orion Span calls this the first affordable luxury space hotel. It’s affordable if you can pay $9.5 million for a 12 day stay. Bargain in comparison with the International Space Station. 7 private citizens paid $20 million to $40 million per trip between 2001 and 2009. At that time, Space Adventures of Virginia utilized the Russian Soyuz Spacecraft and Russian rockets to launch the travelers into space. And it worked.
Onboard Aurora Station It’s Close Quarters and Not Much Space
Aurora Station accommodates four paying passengers and a two crew members. Crew likely are former astronauts. Orion builds Aurora in Houston. Aurora is relatively small in comparison with the International Space Station. Aurora is 43.5 feet long, 14 feet wide and has a pressurized volume of 5.650 cubic feet. International Space Station (ISS) is eight times that size. ISS is 357 feet long and has internal pressurized volume of 32.3 cubic feet.

Luxury space hotel Aurora Station orbits at an altitude of 200 miles above the earth. That ‘s 50 miles lower than ISS’ average orbit of 250 miles. What’s not clear is how Aurora and its passengers get into orbit. A launch provider deal hasn’t been announced.
Race to Space Innovation Orbit
Number of entrepreneurs race for first place to bring tourists on space vacations and open luxury space hotels. Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic just successfully test-launched space plane to ferry tourists on space vacations https://innovation-gamechangers.com/2018/04/06/new-innovation-virgin-galactics-flight-to-space-vacations/ Also http://virgingalactic.com
Also Elon Musk’s SpaceX has a goal to eventually colonize Mars. NASA is developing swarming drones Marsbees to explore Mars for any sign of life and eventually colonize it https://innovation-gamechangers.com/2018/04/11/new-innovation-nasa-marsbees/
As for Orion Span, it expects to grow its luxury space hotel overtime as demand grows for trips to space.
Space Condos for Homes and Vacations
Orion Span expects to launch more space modules to link up with Aurora Station. Additionally, it will sell space condos for permanent homes and sublease condos for vacations or space business travel. Others space players include Axiom Space and Bigelow Aerospace. They too expect to launch commercial space modules into orbit as demand for space travel grows from space tourists, private industry, researchers and national governments.
